MARION COUNTY
North of Fayette — Hamilton, Winfield, and Guin form the county's main markets.

WORKING IN MARION COUNTY
Marion County stretches from the US-78 corridor at Hamilton up into the foothills of the Freedom Hills. Winfield anchors the south end where US-43 and US-78 cross, and Hackleburg on the north end is still rebuilding in places from the 2011 tornado. Terrain shifts from gentle farm ground in the south to steeper ridge-and-hollow country as you head toward Bankhead.

LOCAL CULTURE
Winfield's Mule Day every September pulls in the whole region, and high-school football rivalries between Hamilton, Winfield, and Hackleburg are serious business. It's working-country — poultry houses, cattle, small manufacturing, and a lot of pride in what got rebuilt after the storms.
