GRADING
Shaping the ground so it drains and so what's built on top of it sits level. We do both rough grading (bulk shaping for pads, roads, and lots) and finish grading (the close-tolerance final pass before sod, gravel, or concrete).

TYPICAL PROJECT PROCESS
- Set elevations and pin string lines or GPS targets.
- Cut high, fill low, compact in lifts.
- Rough grade to within an inch or two of design.
- Finish grade with skid steer or box blade to spec for the next trade.

What is rough grading?
Bulk shaping of the site to roughly the final contours — within an inch or two — before the final pass.
What is finish grading?
The close-tolerance final pass. For concrete or sod we hold to about a quarter-inch; for gravel drives a half-inch is normal.
