TYPICAL PROJECT PROCESS
- Walk the site, look at soil, watershed, and where water will overflow safely.
- Strip topsoil and stockpile.
- Excavate or build the dam in compacted lifts of clay-rich soil.
- Set the principal spillway and an emergency spillway.
- Shape banks, seed for erosion control, and let it fill.

Can a pond be excavated on my property?
Usually yes, if you have enough slope or watershed. We check soil for clay content and look at where overflow will go. Ponds tied to a creek or wetland can require state permits.
How long does it take to build a pond?
A small fishing pond (under an acre) is typically one to three weeks of equipment time, then weather fills it.
